It is this continuing philosophy that has distinguished Cabrini of Westchester as a respected, trusted and compassionate leader in elder care. With locations in both Westchester County and New York City, Cabrini of Westchester is comprised of Cabrini of Westchester, and Cabrini Apartments. Sponsored by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cabrini of Westchester’s voluntary, not-for-profit organizations provide various programs and services that promote independence, dignity and well-being.
Cabrini of Westchester is proud to continue the legacy of its Foundress, Mother Cabrini. Inspired by the values of leadership, education, and advocacy for those in need of care, in 1880 Mother Frances Xavier Cabrini founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Almost a decade later, by the direction of Pope Leo XIII, Mother Cabrini and a small group of her religious sisters left Italy for New York, on a mission to minister to the countless Italian immigrants living in poverty in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Little did she know the legacy that would blossom from her boundless compassion.
