Andron Construction Corp. Receives Award for St. Cabrini Nursing Home’s $55 Million Major Modernization Project

Cabrini of Westchester is delighted to announce that Andron Construction Corporation has won the 2010 Associated General Contractors of New York State’s (AGC NYS) “Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Award” for their innovative work on St. Cabrini Nursing Home’s $55 million Major Modernization Project. This is the nineteenth year the AGC NYS has been recognizing the outstanding work of New York contractors and construction projects.

“This award recognizes the successful and sustained effort by the designers led by Landow & Landow, the builders led by Andron and the staff at St. Cabrini led by Pat Krasnausky,” said Charles F. Winter, President of Andron Construction Corporation. “It was a team effort and a wonderful accomplishment.”

The 3-year long project which was completed in the spring of 2009, included a new three-story addition as well as two adjoining wings which expanded the Home’s square footage by over 55 percent. The beautiful renovations also offer a variety of amenities to the elders that call St. Cabrini home as well as to the growing number of individuals who turn to St. Cabrini for short term rehabilitation.  Such amenities include a “main street” featuring a gift shop, coffee shop, beauty parlor, a magnificent chapel and an expanded short-term rehabilitation unit.  In addition, the renovations created more private resident rooms, lounges and terraces overlooking the Hudson River as well as new dining rooms on every unit that feature restaurant style service.

“We were pleased to support Andron’s application for this award,” said Patricia Krasnausky, President and CEO of Cabrini Eldercare. “No one could deserve it more than Andron’s team that maneuvered the renovations in such a way as to maintain occupancy and keep the residents safe and comfortable throughout the project.”

All entries for the Build New York Award are judged by a 12-member jury. According to the AGC NYS, winners are selected based on their management skills, imagination, overcoming challenging and unusual circumstances, scheduling accomplishments and project innovation by the contractor/manager and the entire project team including the project owner, architect, subcontractors and suppliers.

The award ceremony will take place on December 8, 2010 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. during the Annual AGC NYS Construction Industry Conference.
